October reading is off to a great start! This week I read The Blue Moon Café & 24-Hour Occult Emporium by Lexie Sharabianlou, a cozy fantasy that gave me exactly what I want from the genre: memorable characters, real stakes, and a surprisingly emotional story. I also found my first five-star read of October with John Green’s Hollywood, Ending, and Nghi Vo’s The Scarlet Ball took me into a dark, dangerous version of Gilded Age society filled with demons, wealth, and power.

Plus, I’m starting Becky Chambers’ As You Wake, Break the Shell and looking ahead to two fantasy books whose opening chapters already have me very excited!
